Blog 19.. Union Sq. Farmers Market

Union Sq. Farmers Market!!

Exploring the Farmers Market in Union Square on a Saturday was crowded and cold! But to my surprise instead of feeling overwhelmed with the amount of people there it was a refreshing. I walked around listening to my i pod and observing what the market had to offer and the type of people who go out of there way and travel to buy food away from home. Such as myself not only was this a project but i also had to prepare a meal for my family by the time i got back home, to present as well as enjoy.

It takes me about 45 Min's to get there, between taking the over crowded 7 train to grand Central and then taking the 4,5, or 6 . The environment in the farmers market was like stepping out of my normal world and into an urban society.  All different cultures where around but mostly white Americans, makes you think twice about living where you are when everything is so much better in other places. Over all it was a nice experience

I saw so many types of fresh grown products, especially vegetables and fruits that smelled extremely fresh. The food might have been more over priced than going to your local grocery store or super market but you can definitely tell that you would be buying better quality food rather than Processed food that can cause so many health issues.

I ended up buying some peaches and apples. They tasted so good!! I also bought some peppers, zucchini, and corn to make a side dish for dinner. You can definitely tell the freshness of the food they were selling at the farmers market! I would go again!!
